Large natural landscapes, safaris and excursions have characterized her childhood, spent in Kenya, where, very young, she moved with her parents. After giving up professional tennis ideas, she has focused on golfing, following her father’s advice, also to use golf as a social platform. When she was 16 she moved to the United States to study and pursue her sporting career on golf courses. In 2012 she turned professional and immediately showed her skills on the 2013 Symetra Tour, where she finished second and was appointed " Rookie of the year ". She continued her rise on the LPGA, being able to rely on an outstanding regularity in tournament rankings that allowed her to become an established professional. Her improvement on the golf course lead her to become Italy’s N.1 female golfer in 2016 at the Olympics in Rio where she finished T53. In addition to playing golf she is passionately dedicated to photography and kite surfing and still maintains a strong link with Africa and its nature.

Val Skinner Foundation

When my friend and fellow professional golfer, Heather Farr, was diagnosed with breast cancer, it was a shock to her family, friends and the world of professional golf. Women are not supposed to get breast cancer at age 24, and they are not supposed to die at 28. Her death meant there needed to be a stronger message sent to caution young women about the disease. After much time investigating and identifying the appropriate way to raise awareness among young women in our country, the Val Skinner Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey worked together to co-conceptualize the young women's initiative, a multifaceted approach to educating young women as well as healthcare providers regarding breast cancer risks and early breast cancer detection. Big Life was co-founded by photographer Nick Brandt and award-winning conservationist Richard Bonham in September 2010. Since its inception, Big Life has expanded to employ hundreds of Maasai rangers—with more than 40 permanent outposts and tent-based field units, 13 vehicles, tracker dogs, and aerial surveillance—protecting 2 million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo-Kilimanjaro ecosystem of East Africa. Big Life was the first organization in East Africa to establish coordinated cross-border anti-poaching operations. More info : www.biglife.org
